Description

The listing, Ukulele Easy Make Your Own Kit - Free US Shipping has ended.

Great kid or musician gift, make your own ukulele. After completion (or during building I guess) stain or decorate as you wish.

This instrument kit comes from Uncommon Goods. On the site it has an excellent 4.5 rating from 37 reviewers. Here is the description from the site:

"Making Music
Say "aloha" to your next craft project! Make your very own Hawaiian guitar with this fun and easy DIY kit that includes an unfinished pre-assembled body, guitar neck and strings. Once you've put your four-string guitar together you can customize it with paint, wood stain or other decorations. Takes a few hours to complete. Requires sand paper, glue, craft knife and screw driver, not included. Made in Japan.

Sold individually.

Item ID: 17304
Materials: plastic, metal, wood
body: 9.5" L x 7" W; neck: 11.5" L
assembled: 21" L
Ages 8 and up. Assembly requires adult supervision."

Free US shipping. For Canadian shipping there will be a flat $20 fee, although it could be less once I actually calculate the rate. It won't be more than that though.

For bidding calibration, this cost me about $45 with shipping included. I think this is a standard Soprano Ukulele. An Amazon reader provides directions to a similar if not identical kit to supplement the "Jenglish" directions although any grandfather with some wood making experience should do fine: http://www.amazon.com/review/R8RMH7I4K4NW3/ref=cm_cr_pr_viewpnt#R8RMH7I4K4NW3

Wood glue is not included and some suggest using clamps but the Amazon reviewer reported rubber bands and a dowel were all he needed.

Thank you! It is something that a Teenager could do and truly enjoy. Who knows maybe even spark a long lasting interest! I do thank you for this great listing.

Sure, if the teenager has made plastic models or is at all craft oriented I think it would be a good present. Also if he/she has some music talent having a Ukulele would please them.
