BASE / MOBILE : Not that you would want to, but this radio (like many Radio Shack CB Base units) has 120 volt AC (home outlet) as well as 12 Volt DC (Car Battery) capability. It has a "house power" cord on the back as well as a 12VDC connection for mobile. This is useful if you absolutely have to use it in the car or especially if you have a Camper that only has 12VDC power. Years ago, i actually had a TRC-431 bse/mobile that was big and heavy, but used it in the car on occasion. This does not mean you can use the car antenna at home. Car antennas need the large groundplane of the cars sheet metal to operate safely.
