Description

The listing, Heirloom Tomato ✽ VIOLET JASPER ✽ 15 Seeds ✽ Organic has ended.

When these little Oriental jewels ripen, your eyes will be stunned with color. They have pretty violet-purple fruit with iridescent green streaks! Fruit weigh 1-3 ounces, are smooth and have good tasting, dark purplish-red flesh. This variety will also amaze you with its yield. It’s not only high, but incredibly high, being one of the most productive tomatoes we have grown. A great variety for marketing. Introduced from China, where it is called Tzi Bi U. Though these make an intersting addition to salads, we prefer them roasted with meat, in a beef stew, or skewered on a shish kebab. These produced all the way to frost this summer. Fruits lower on the vine even continued to ripen after our frost.

Days: 72
Size: indeterminate
Season: mid-season
Color: purple
Type: OP Heirloom
Uses: roasting with meat and stews, salads, fresh eating

This Auction: You will be receiving 15 seeds from my garden. They will be sent First Class mail. I only take Paypal for International bidders, I do combine any additional auction seeds (within 5 days) for no additional shipping charge. I am happy to say that my seeds tested 99-100% germination within 2 weeks at a temp of 65°F in the spring of 2012. Excellent for beginners!

Propagation Method: From seed, sow seeds indoors 6 weeks before last spring frost. Sow 2-3 seeds per pot and thin to one plant per container. After four weeks, transplant seedlings to larger pots, and about 10 days before the last spring frost, begin hardening the plants to the outdoors. Transplant your plants to a sunny, highly composted location when soil temperatures are at least 55 to 60 degrees Fahrenheit. Stake or cage the plants for support and to prevent sprawling on the ground.
