This gps was my brothers, I personally haven't used it. I wrote the description off the owners manual. After googling it , it does say it's a marine gps.

being that this is a marine gps -- does that mean it wont do like it should if i took it hunting or camping --what does being a marine gps have to do with anything --so maybe it belongs to the marines is that it --could we get in trouble having this

Marine GPS is made for pin pointing your location over water. I suppose you can use it over land it just won't show you the land terrain. And no you can't get in trouble for owning this. You can still buy them today.

ok i now understand --marine means boating --lol wow i thought it ment the us marines --silly me im sorry --if i didnt ask id never known -- try it and c if it shows land --if it does ill sure bid on it --im sure it does --my garmin i have in my auto shows water --lakes streams rivers--can u try it to c if it tracks u on land

I just played around with it, it gives you position your at, altitude and compass readings. You can mark your location and guide your way back. The only difference between this one and others I've used is this one doesn't show you the topographic map of the terrane
