The listing, WHITE Blackberry Read this post..... has ended.

This year my friend and I came across our most famous find so far. At first we thought maybe they werent ripe but upon tasting a few we were treated with a new find.......Pure white blackberries. Well we have searched the internet for information on white blackberries. We discovered they were developed by plant breeder Luther Burbank, and are also known as the iceberg white blackberry or snowbank berry, Burbank tried out 65,000 unsuccessful crossbreeds at his facility in Santa Rosa, California, before enjoying success in 1894. The only place we have found any that might be for sale are with the Luther Burbank Botanical Gardens in California and are very expensive, plus they have to pass inspections before leaving the state. I think the vines are close to 100 dollars apiece.
I collected seed, (after eating a few, couldn't resist) and am offering on Listia the few extra seed that we didn't plant ourselves. We are not gardeners so we felt it would only be fair to let others try besides ourselves. They were so unique. The red markings on the berries in my pics is due to us carrying these berries mixed with our other berries that day. They are solid white
Botony dept said the seed would be true to seed?
These seed were harvested miles from civilization in the Appalachian Mountains.

I'm usually more generous with my seed , however being so rare and our supply so limited, this auction is for ten of the seed. If you are willing to forward 2.00 for shipping I will add a few extra seed for my appreciation.

Yep, you're definately stalking me. HAHAHA. Yes they are different, we werent sure what we had when we first found these. Had to check with university to verify our find. I did run into an elderly little ole man who informed me that as a child his mother had a vine and would make jelly with it. She waited and collected patiently to get enough for a batch of jelly each year, and the jelly was pure white. I can't wait to try that. White blackberry jelly, now that would be a site to behold. I read where this man created these berries cause his wife didn't like getting purple stain everywhere from the regular ones, now if he could just have worked on them thorns, lol What a husband....she was a lucky woman. NO ONE has this seed offered for sale that we can find, and we've looked hard and long.

hey, I reached my limit too, and was soooo upset I couldn't fan people back. After a month of screaming I discovered to go on my fan page and remove some of my older fans, it then shored up room for new ones. I hated doing that. I love my friends I've met on here. They need to change that program. When someone fans me, I wanna fan back, and some I like to fan cause , well, cause I want to. dang it all. I've got you a jar of this blackberry jelly sat aside and will keep it hidden from the younguns and friends till I hear from you. I'm making another batch next week. These were some of the juiciest and tasty berries I've run across. My hiking buddy laughs cause I pick the berries being selective, so many ripe and so many unripe, gotta have the correct ratio. No mushy ones, no green ones, heck, I eat it, I want the best. Her jelly never turns out, she gets mad cause her kids want MY jelly only, well, she needs to listen....hahaha. I make my jelly very carefully and with love, gotta add that, and a little cantankerous attitude helps. This coming spring I plan to pick the small wild strawberries for a batch. It takes a couple months to pick enough cause these are the wild strawberries and so small. Yeah, I hear people say, oh mine are BIG, well, I've gathered wild strawberries all my life, I've NEVER seen a hugh one, maybe its the genre of berry I'm collecting. But when I make the jelly, its so delicate, no pulp or very little if any, almost a pink color and a different taste than cultivated ones. It's one of the few I like as much as blackberry, but you know, blackberry is hard to beat. Wait till you taste mine, lol.
