Based on the hugely popular science fiction classic television series, the movie "Star Trek" serves as a prequel to the show and previous movies. "Star Trek" chronicles a young Captain Kirk before as he enters Star Fleet Academy and takes on his first command. All the characters from the original show make an appearance in "Star Trek," including the bridge crew as well as Scotty the engineer. This time, the Romulans create a hole in space and pass through the dimensions of space and time. They try and destroy the Federation by destroying each planet individually. This movie shows Kirk coming into his own as a captain. A young Spock also takes on his role as second in command. Together with Captain Pike, they manage to defeat the Romulan warlord. The "Star Trek" DVD has several special features. including deleted scenes and commentaries. The stars of the science fiction movie are Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, and Simon Pegg. It was directed by J.J. Abrams.
