It works just like built in wifi on a laptop, you plug it into a usb port and it picks up the internet wirelessly.

I will ship the day after I get the address,I think you are confusing this with a wireless hotspot which it is not. This allows you to hook up a pc wirelessly to the internet in your home without all the wires and such....

Does it need a data plan? I have one that is currently broken and I needed a data plan inorder for it to work. I already have a Wifi button on my laptop so if I wanted to connect to the Wifi then I could do so but I would not need my USB stick. Please clarify

It is the exact same thing as your laptop wifi except in usb form.

it's a netgear n600 dualband adapter which means it uses 2.4ghz and 5ghz frequency the n600 come from combining the two channels together both or 300mbps on the 2.4ghz and 5ghz which gives you 600mbps if you have a dual band wireless router

yes not for wifi hotspots but for connecting to your own wifi router in your home

people....you dissapoint....think of it this way: if you have a desktop that needs to be wired/plugged into your router to work but you have laptops on the internet this adapter by-passes that and skips the wires :3 this wont work if you are out in the bahammas away from a router/hotspot......laptop has no wifi plug this in= wifi for your laptop
