Wonder Egg plants are very easy to grow. A member of the Eggplant family. they are edible. This egg in picture, is about the size of a bantam egg. When it is mature, it will start turning pale yellow, until it turns a golden yellow.

Questions & Comments

How long does it take the plant to get the eggs after planting? Do you plant them in the fall or spring? these are nifty!

they will form their fruits (eggplants) about 2 weeks after flowering . . . which can be anywhere from 90 days to 130 days after sowing the seed. i plant mine during the winter - in pots indoors and about the last week of the year - - we have our last spring frost at or before the last week of Feb. - your's may vary. if i were to plant directly into a garden bed, i would do it right after the last spring frost in your area. sow with barely anything over it - - i very lightly sprinkle with horticultural vermiculite or with seed starter soil and water with a misting sprayer.

not only nifty, but they're delicious sautéed in olive oil, a pinch of salt, a dash of onion powder . . . . or use butter instead of the oil . . . naughty, naughty!

fanned me? did you really? well i did fan you. these are absolutely wonderous plants in the garden - you will get questions like crazy . . . these will reseed in just about any soil - - they do want sunshine and regular watering . . . and when they are thinly sliced and sauteéd in butter with a pinch of sea salt - - or even ICBINB . . . they are delicious! . . . for a bit of fun, i sometimes chop up some well-rinsed baby portabellas and sauteé right along with the eggplant. Wow!
