actually there is a battery in it its just rechargeable that is how it stays on or other whys you would have to keep cranking it

You never buy or install batteries for it. So no batteries are ever needed.

The generator creates a rectified voltage of 4-5V to charge up the Lithium-ion battery,I have one of these.. what i did was replace the battery once it wouldn't hold a charge anymore..just popped out the 4 screws, popped out the old watch battery and put a new one in...cheap as dirt and it always works, love mine.
need another one for the wife. F&W and will be bidding
