Culinary note: Some parts of these flowers are edible.
Best when roasted with skin. Skin is thin and edible.

I sliced and roasted the squash in olive oil and sprinkled cinnamon and brown sugar...SO GOOD. You can make it savory or sweet. I prefer sweet and will try it again next time with melted bacon fat and maple syrup.
