I am listing this Chatty for my 89 year old momma as she is unable to use a computer. I told her about Listia and she wants to list the doll to pick out a few things she would like on here to give for Christmas
Now about the doll. :-) She is marked on her lower back: Chatty Cathy 1960, Chatty Baby 1961 Patented in Canada 1962. Momma told me this was her nieces doll that was left to her when the moved back Momma had Chatty stored in a trunk until today when she took her out.
From what I understand this is a rarer Chatty Cathy doll as it is Patented in Canada. It had long hair when it was new, that was put up in pigtails. The niece cut her hair into a bob cut. She is still cute as a bug and the hair is not bad at all. Her hair is a rarer auburn color. Her hair is still very full and soft, her bangs are still so long I had to lift them for you to see her pretty baby blue eyes. She has all of her eyelashes, Her Trademark freckles are still very noticeable. She is missing her two front bucked teeth, you can buy these on ebay for for about 5.00. Her legs are dirty and will need to be cleaned. She has had her fingernails and lips "painted" a light pink in her past. Her head, arms, and legs are still factory attached and move as they should. No loose head, arms or legs.She is 19 to 20inches tall She has her pullstring but when you pull it it whirls back in so she is mute at this time. My momma was going to send her in to a Chatty voice repair person on ebay to have her repaired to talk again but momma just isn't able and has decided to let her go to someone that may love her enough to do this. I checked on ebay before listing Chatty and the voice repair is approx $40.00. She will NOT come naked, I will pick up something to dress her in before I ship her to her new mommy. She is a Precious doll to keep or give to some special person or little girl for Christmas this year Collectible Cutie :-)
