The listing, The Hitchcock Collection (DVD, 2005, 3-Disc Set) has ended.
A number of early films from the career of Alfred Hitchcock are collected together on THE HITCHCOCK COLLECTION. All of the films featured were made in England before Hitchcock left for Hollywood in 1940. Some of the most important films in Hitchcock's career are included, such as the THE LODGER, only the third film he directed, and based in part on the Jack the Ripper murders; BLACKMAIL, Hitchcock's first sound film; and THE LADY VANISHES, a comedic thriller that is often considered the finest film he made in his native England. Also featured are RICH AND STRANGE, which displays Hitchcock's talent for romantic comedy; THE 39 STEPS, one of his first colossal successes; and THE MAN WHO KNEW TOO MUCH, later remade by Hitchcock himself in Hollywood. The remainder of the films are lesser known but still of great interest to fans of the director and to film history buffs: SABOTAGE, SECRET AGENT, and NUMBER 17.
