Description
The listing, Unique White Opal and Gold Nougat Necklace has ended.
You are bidding on a very unique, white opal and goldplated nougat necklace... I think it may be very old, I used to see a lot of these when I was a child... The chain is approximately 17 1/2 inches long, a little rusty but pendant could easily be placed on a different chain if desired.
Please note that after auction ends you have seven days to notify me of your Listia verified address. If you have not, I will relist item and credits will not be refunded.
Thank you for looking and happy bidding!
Questions & Comments
I'm not really sure how I could take a better picture. I took this with a Canon Digital Rebel as close as I could get. This is the best quality.
Thank you! do you by any chance know if these have a name? Like I said, i used to see A LOT Of them! And any chance you might know what kind of stone it is, or if it is antique?
well, I know my mother has it since I was a child, so antique I would say so. at least 30yrs. It is an opal, said to only be worn by people born in October, otherwise it brought bad luck to the wearer.....something my mother told me, whether it is true or not I would never know, cause I would never wear it. she willed it to me, the piece hoop that held it to the chain broke not long after that, so no one can wear it now. I keep it for keepsake purposes now. It was real gold and a real opal. ...
Thank you so much for telling me more about it! I actually bought this at a yardsale, and was going to wear it but never did, decided it wasn't really ME, as pretty as it is. I understand what you mean about holding on to things for sentimental reason. I have a lot off stuff from my Nana, Christmas decorations and porcelain dolls and such... My mother was trying to sell something of hers the other day and I told her she couldn't. LOL. Good luck on this if you bid! Thanks again for the info, I will be fanning you! :)
The opal is called a "fiery opal" the fact that the chain is not real only means that it is costume jewelry. But this would look very nice on a real gold chain and could look as good.f,w &b
sorry but everytime I try to bid on this, I immediately get an outbid notice. Someone must have a lock on bidding for this, and I can't continue if I know I don't have a chance at it. good luck
