it does have a mp3 player on it and it comes with a 1gb sd card which you can connect that to your pc or laptop and load songs on to it to play them on the phone.

No it doesn't use a SIM card, it is programmed for Verizon and can be switched to companies like cricket.

It was on a plan, but can be used for either, can also be taken to places like Cricket that flash phones to there carrier and all features will work.
