Righetti was the 1981 Rookie of the Year as a starting pitcher for the New York Yankees. Converted to the bullpen in 1984, he would go on to establish a a single season record by converting 46 saves in 1986. He pitched with the Yankees through 1991 before spending three years with the Giants and moving around for two more seasons after that. A 2-time All Star, he was one of the top 10 closers ever at the time he retired.
