I checked and it's not the first and this version is compatible with Windows XP. They no longer have the update for Windows Vista.

There is no Windows Vista update for version 11 or earlier. But you may be able to get it to work using "Compatibility Mode" in Windows Vista, 7, or 8. I'll be glad to share how to do this if you need help. Also, Just as an FYI, The Windows Vista update for Family Tree Maker 2005, 2006 or 16, is still available: http://past.familytreemaker.com/vistaupdate/

You are right dsmith0429 about using the "compatibility mode". Thanks about the update. I bought this but never got around to using it.
