The listing, Heirloom Tomato ✽ MONASTERY BEEFSTEAK ✽ 15 Seeds ✽ Organic has ended.
This is a huge beefsteak, the largest tomato we grew this year. Unfortunately, I lost the paperwork with the delightful 100 year old story of monks and the monastery this came from when the seeds were originally given to me. Regardless, it was a delightful addition to our community garden and produced large, juicy red beefsteaks to donate to our local food pantry. I did keep the few you see in pictures to enjoy myself and to save seeds for next year. If I ever run across the information hiding somewhere in my stacks of files, I will post in any upcoming auctions of this.

This Auction: You will be receiving 15 seeds from my garden. They will be sent First Class mail. I will need a phone number if sending International. I will also combine any additional auction seeds (within 5 days) for no additional charge. I am happy to say that my seeds tested 99-100% germination within 2 weeks at a temp of 65°F in the spring of 2012. Excellent for beginners!
Propagation Method: From seed, sow seeds indoors 6 weeks before last spring frost. Sow 2-3 seeds per pot and thin to one plant per container. After four weeks, transplant seedlings to larger pots, and about 10 days before the last spring frost, begin hardening the plants to the outdoors. Transplant your plants to a sunny, highly composted location when soil temperatures are at least 55 to 60 degrees Fahrenheit. Stake or cage the plants for support and to prevent sprawling on the ground.
