Description

The listing, Webster Silverware Co. Antique Vanity Mirror .925 Silver !! has ended.

As its name suggests, the George K. Webster Silver Company was founded by George K. Webster in North Attleboro, Massachusetts, in 1869. The company created lines of sterling silver items, from small and intricate thimbles to large and exquisite candlesticks. The company's distinctive hallmark can be seen on some of the sterling silver items that have come up for sale online and in antique stores. These items illustrate the styles and tastes of the time periods they represent and provide some historical perspective for George K. Webster silverware.
The George K. Webster Silver Company manufactured over 20 patterns of products such as dresser sets, picture frames, cigarette holders, bowls, baby items, napkin rings and candlesticks, primarily in sterling silver. Apparently, George K. Webster personally oversaw and supervised every aspect of the production process, which explains the uniformly high standard of design and craftsmanship of items that bear the Webster signature.
Here are some other details this was a vanity mirror from I believe the 1930s. This is .925 silver and right now at scrap value is around 34.00 an ounce. This has some weight to it and I thought about selling it for the silver but why do that to a vintage piece like this so I could not do it and want to pass it on to someone that will love and appreciate this piece. I believe if someone put a piece of glass in this vanity mirror it would be worth alot more than what you could ever get out of it just selling it for silver. It was monogrammed with the initials AM which was a common practice back in the day to have your special items monogrammed. As you can see in the picture this does have the Webster Silver Co. hallmark which was Webster Sterling with the W with a featured arrow going through it so this is the real deal and would make a nice addition to your silver collection or a great gift to that special someone.Any other questions ask and bid with confidence I am a trusted seller. Thanks

Having 90,000 is further than a stretch for this item.

Again looking at scrap value and not the rarity of this piece !! This auction is intended more less for a collector of rare antiques that will love and appreciate this piece and not so much for someone looking to scrap this for the silver content.

This is between 70 to 80 years old. Webster Silver Co. used the Rose and Leaf floral design seen in the pictures circa 1930s to early 40s ... Also this mirror was from a child's dresser set very hard to find because kids lost them or damaged them. This one needs a piece of glass cut for it and a couple small dents smoothed out as seen in the pictures. Any other questions feel free to ask and thanks for your interest

How much does it way? And if you can't weigh it, please compare it to an any day object in regards to weight!

I took this mirror with me to the Post Office a few days ago and had it weighed.... It weighs 0.7 ounce which is about 20 grams. A Morgan silver dollar weighs 27 grams so less than a Morgan Silver dollar. This mirror contains 92.5 % silver and a Morgan Silver dollar contains 90 % silver. This is a Webster Silver Co mirror that needs a piece of glass cut for it. This mirror was part of a "dresser set" and was made in the 1930s to early 40s ... Webster Silver Co. used this rose and leaf floral design during that period. Defiantly worth more as an antique or collectible than what it would be for selling it for the silver in my opinion but what the winner does with it is up to them. Thanks for your interest and good luck !!..

You are looking at scrap value and not the value of this being an antique and rare piece.

Why cant you wait for this... You just said this was silver plate ? If you knew the least thing about silver you would know that for an item to be marked Sterling it has to be at least 92.5 % silver content. Your best bet if you want silver plate and a China product is to go to Walmart or Kmart and see if you can find one of these there but good luck because the Webster Silver Company went out of business in the 1950s way before Walmart was even thought about.... I always love someone that beats your things down lol !!! Anyone else have any questions just ask

just so every one knows do not restore this-it causes the actual value to go down when items with age are restored.just being honest i watch alot of antiquing shows and they say if you clean them up they lose value

Its only plated silver not solid. I have a bunch of silver items and as it turns out for the exception of this peice maybe if its not flatware noone wants it and its real hard to find a scrapyard that takes it.

This is not plated silver... This has STERLING SILVER and Webster Silver Hallmark clearly stamped on it The Webster Silver Co. did not silver plate. This company is no longer around today and produced high quality items all the way up to the 1950s. I do know what I have here but thinks for your information.

You're right. It would be a shame to scrap a beautiful piece like that. Looks a little dented in spots but I'll bet it could be fixed to look brand new again.

Glad I didn't scrap it and yes a piece of glass and smooth out some small dents and this would be a nice piece. Silver is a soft metal and easy to work with also.

thank you ..and I was going to sell it for the silver but that would be sad to do..... To have a piece of glass cut for this wouldn't be that expensive and would really shoot the value up. I wish there was a glass shop around where I live or this would have glass in it and listed on eBay.

No its not stamped .925.... But for an item to be marked Sterling it has to have a minimum 92.5 % silver content or most commonly known as .925. Silver company's put their own unique hallmark on their items verifying that it has the silver content it should have. This mirror has the Webster Silver Co. hallmark on it... A silver company most known for making high end items for well to do folks back in the day. The Webster silver hallmark is easily identified by the featured arrow going through the letters C and W. I hope this helps and thanks for your interest.
