I do:) I remember reading Harry Potter to my sons when they were 2 years old or less, sometimes during dinner while they were in their high chairs! It was a good way for me to read it! And they liked probably just my "reading voice" and some of the words!!!

That's the best way to encourage a child to love reading. After I graduated from college I ended up getting the best job in the world so there were never any regrets.
I worked as an elementary school librarian for nineteen years until budget cuts forced me out of my position because there was not enough money to pay a full time media specialist. I was assigned to another position but I was so heartbroken I ended up taking an early retirement. Oddly, enough it turned out to be the best choice for my family because my father passed away last year and we moved in with my Mother to help take care of her. Life has so many twists and turns but ultimately you end up on the right path as you long as you always look for the all the great little things that life has to offer and appreciate what you do have. I am so honored that I bought so much joy into all the young minds I touched over the year. As you can probably imagine I was not your typical librarian. I was probably louder than all the kids but that 's because we were all having fun reading! I was reminded of that yesterday when I went to the pharmacy yesterday and as I pulled up to the drive through, the young girl says, "I bet you don't remember me but I had you for library when I was in second grade and I never forgot any of your stories. You were the best." Of course I had to pull over after I left and shed a few tears because it just so meaningful to me. I'll write more later. I probably have people who are reading the comments for this auction and going "what the heck? Who wants to hear your life story? Ha Ha Anywho, that explains why reading to your child is the best idea ever!

Awww that must have been so cool & emotional to hear:) Your little story, prob just one of many, was giving me tears. I still remember my Kindergarten Teacher & how she treated me like I was just one of her favorite people, well looking back, she was the same with everyone. I will never forget her name, nor that she let me-( as I was already reading well) let me sit on the floor in the back & read a book I brought, while she was teaching the class to read. When she told the class she would not be coming back & why. I literally did not speak for months. I had the ability I just did not, yup another very long story!

Isn't amazing how people can impact your life. That's why I try to do one nice thing a day for someone because it just might help someone in ways you might not have even realized. I know I'm one of those rainbow glasses type of people but I wouldn't change it for the world. lol

Yeah, my niece was so into Harry Potter last year that I went overboard on things for her. This year it's the Hunger Games. lol
