Just some more information:

I called amazon.com directly. If you live in canada then you cannot use an amazon.com gift card only one for amazon.ca. If you have an address in the US then or a credit card that has a US billing address, then you can use the amazon.com gift card, but that is the only way. I also asked about expiration dates and amazon told me their are no expiration dates on their gift cards. The amount just sits in your account until it is used. Thank you for looking!
