Description

The listing, Egyption Walking Onions-5 bulbs has ended.

These are my second favorite of onions! They are small but they multiply quickly. When the stalks form the onions on top grow, the weight bends the stalk down to the ground, releasing the onion bulbs, then they will grow from there and before you know it, you have a garden full!
I like these cut in half, cooked in alittle butter with olive oil to release the flavor, add shrimp, a little italian spice, even a clove of garlic (sliced) add this to cooked and drained penne pasta, add a little parm. cheese and...wow! Is this good!

When the tops have finished growing, the onion bulbs that form on top of the stem, you just pluck them off. They are best when used before they harden up which takes aprox. a week after picking fresh. I slice a bulb in half (unless they re really small bulbs) then put pressure down on knife that covers over the bulbs and smash them. If the bulbs get hard quickly, i still cut in half then put them in whatever recipe I'm using.

They are bulbs. Fall is the time to plant them or just scatter them in an area you want for these onions. I usually put alittle soil over them just so animals won't come along and take them or kick them out of place.
