Description
The listing, Yellow Tansy Flower seeds (20) has ended.
While the yellow tansy flower has, for years, been grown in the herb garden, an excess of it is poisonous. "In England, bunches of tansy were traditionally placed at windows to keep out flies. Sprigs were placed in bedding and linen to drive away pests." (Wikipedia.)
Tansy Tanacetum vulgare is one of those wild flowers that looks a bit like an umbellifer, but is really related to daisies.
Questions & Comments
I love tansy, and bought some. It is like mint, in that it spreads. recomend using a container.
I didn't know that. A dear, dear lady was 92 and went to the nursing home. They razed her house and it was surroudned by flowers. That's where I got my start. I dug up several starts as the city comes in and mows everything down several times a summer. So sad. I like to think she's in heaven smiling that some of her babies have spread around town. I also planted them in the flower bed in the park I volunteer at.
