That means someone set the bid up at a higher price so when you bid your raising the bid bit by bit until you over bid the person who laid down so much on it. I have ran across that same thing on some auctions I've bid on, at first i couldn't figure out why until i noticed that once i bidded a certain amount i had outbid the person and saw what they had set it to.
