You can bid higher than the next amount...for example, if I'm willing to bid 1000 credits but the bidding on an item is at 100. I can bid 1000, but Listia will take from the 1000 credits bid what is needed to be the high bidder. So, let's say you bid 150 on that same item, but because I bid 1000 credits. Your bid will be highest until Listia recognizes my 1000 credits bid and then my bid would be reflected as higher with say 160 credits (up to the 1000 credits). If you bid 1200 credits, the same would happen for your bid and you would be the highest bidder because I only bid up to 1000 credits. Hope that helps explain how that works. If the item went for 250 credits and I had a 1000 credit bid, Listia will only take the 250 credits (not the 1000 credits...the 1000 credits are only what I would be willing to pay credits for.) Again, I hope this helps.
Pretty much like what happens on Ebay, but there's "sniper" software some bidders use that a "human" can't ever beat when it comes to bidding there. Not sure if someone's developed that kind of stuff for Listia...but like you said, who am I to say...they probably have. And this is just FREE Stuff people in effect are trading for credits to get other FREE stuff. I'm just trying to get rid of stuff that a friend left me when she closed down her business. Its driving my husband crazy having all this "stuff" stored so I'm just using Listia to share it with others to get things we need or want. Thanks for checking out my auctions! Have a Merry Christmas!!
