Im only getting rid of this one because i have 2. My mom bought me the same one that i already had. The company that makes it is called Veridian. The reason why its a temple thermometer is because thats where the blood vessels flow through in the head so it gives u an accurate temp. If u have any question feel free to ask. TY.
