In the book Raise Your Voice, Teri, an insecure girl, loves to sing. Her brother, Paul, hated the way his father never wanted them to do anything special, he just wanted them to grow up and work in the restaurant with him. On Paul's birthday his aunt Nina came over and Paul and his father got in a fight. That's the same night that something bad happened to Paul and Teri felt it was her fault. She stopped singing. Teri didn't know that her brother secretly sent in her application to a very big music academy, called Bristol-Academy. Teri gets accepted but she doesn't feel like singing any more until her aunt helped her get in behind her fathers back. I think this story was very interesting but the ending was kind of expected.
