Description
The listing, Primitive Wooden Bowl has ended.
This is a primitive reproduction wooden bowl that is golden mustard color. It has a weeping willow tree etched on the inside. It measures about 10 inches in diameter and is about 3 inches tall. This looks great alone or nestled with other wooden bowls - lots of decorative uses.
Questions & Comments
Yea at first my husband was losing money by sending big items with free shipping, almost $12 a piece, now we just do mostly small stuff free shipping and it's not so bad.. Usually try to make it for a small env! :) but still watching this!! I would bid but I'm not sure how to do the whole PayPal thin to pay for shipping.. I just got my first wooden bread bowl a week or so ago, and I want more,, real or reproductions!!
Yes, LOL $12 was what everything was costing me too! I am noticing I get smaller bids when I charge for shipping. I should just offer everything free shipping and try to get better at estimating cost. I might be putting 2 others up for auction as well. I have them all stacked up and then I think you really only see one or two anyway. I'm probably just bored and what to look at someone else's stuff in my house. Thanks for the advice.
I suppose - what's enough bids. Here's the thing ... I don't like to put minimum bids on things because people tend not to bid but when I offer free shipping people have been low balling their bids. Then when I put a minimum bid and charge for shipping no one wants to bid - Sigh. I am still pretty new and figuring out how to price things fairly and estimate shipping is hard. Lately, I have been losing money on LISTIA with the whole shipping thing. Any advice or what works for you. I find it challenging. Thanks for contacting me. Not trying to whine - just want it to be more of a trade situation. Happy New Year.
I know. It's a risk, really. The only advice I can give you is that people tend to bid more on items with free shipping. If you place an item with a higher start bid and it doesn't go, maybe relist it with a lower starting bid and shipping?
Thanks for the information, that is good advice. I think I'll get better as I go along. I have noticed when there is free shipping I get more bids. Thanks for bidding.
I am going to Wal Mart this month to buy a $17.00 postal scale that will let me weigh items up to 5 pounds and this is the only way we are going to save money with exact shipping costs. I too have lost my shorts on shipping early into Listia pricing and I can never offer free shipping unless it's something under $2.00-ah, Social Security! Also, purchase your bubble brown mailing envelopes-2 sizes, bubble wrap, brown mailing roll paper, mailing labels and mailing tape at your local Dollar General stores and DO NOT purchase these items from the post office who charges 3 times the amount for these things. Save little boxes and plastic envelopes also for earrings, bracelets. If you can't get a scale, keep all your mailing tapes and enter these into a book for items sent and this will give you an idea as to how much certain things cost. Sorry for the long mail here, good luck and Happy New Year! Mo
Good to know. I am still new to LISTIA and trying to figure everything out. Shipping is the hardest part. Lately I have been paying a lot to ship people's stuff and it's been making me feel like I am losing money. Wouldn't you know most of the things I bid on and win aren't free shipping. LOL
