Description

The listing, Original Chumby has ended.

I mainly used this Chumby internet appliance to stream music to my nightstand, and it's still fine for that. The screen had developed a dark spot but you can still use the touch screen.

This is the original Chumby in tan leather. I was very impressed with the quality of it, but using the menus on the little screen is kind of a pain. You can find out more about Chumby at Chumby.com, the device comes with a free account where you can go online and set up a bunch of Chumby apps, mostly stupid things like the "Poke Spongebob" you see here. I'm sure you can download instructions if needed.

You will need a home wireless network to use this thing. Offer is for Chumby and power cord only, I don't think I have the cloth bag or any paperwork anymore. Have fun!

It's kind of hard to get something like this when you first start out on Listia, because I think the bidding will quickly go higher than the points you start out with (I sure hope so!)

I saw a black original Chumby on ebay right now, currently at about $20 plus $20 shipping and handling, it doesn't even have the screen problem mine has.

The only other way would be to dig up some extra cool items you don't need anymore and offer them with a "buy it now" option, if Listia lets you do that when you are new. Then you would have to make sure they get to the bidder fast so they release your points.

Good luck!

In response to recent questions. This device runs only on AC power, so you need to a place to plug it in.

Sorry, I don't think Listia provides a way to change the length of an active listing, even if I wanted to. I could have put a "Get it Now" on it but couldn't figure out what a good number was; it's going to cost me some bucks to ship because I think it will be over 1 lb.

BIDDERS PLEASE NOTE There is a significant dark spot on the screen. I just used it for streaming internet music and as an alarm clock, so it didn't bother me. You can see it near Spongebob's eye in the picture. I don't know what caused it, I suspect my wife pushed on the screen too hard, she's not in the room so I can blame her.

Thanks, yup! LOL Blame her!! Seriously, Does it have a cord with a plug attached to it? Or would you have to get some type of "adapter" for it? Funny, I am always called "gadget girl" It is not like I own that many. But, this Fascinates me. No clue why?! The black eye your wife gave Spongebob, the dark spot, is it just that part of his eye? I do not see how it would affect viewing, much? And as far as performance, it is not a Touch Screen. OK What I really want to know is about the cord & plug being attached to Chumby Thanks!

Sorry I just saw the it includes the power cord. Is it a Touch Screen?

How much of a problem the dark spot is depends on what you are trying to look at. It does have the original power cord included with it.

The screen is not a touch screen like on a cellphone or tablet, it's more of a tap screen. most of the controls are performed by tapping on the screen. I would have much preferred at least an external volume control, it's kind of poorly designed software in my opinion. It's a cool looking gadget though. You can learn a lot more about it at Chumby.com - Also if anyone is put off by the bad screen or doesn't have enough points, they do show up on Craigslist or ebay, just be sure it's the original Chumby, the later ones don't have the nice case, although they do have bigger screens and other improvements. I had been thinking about getting the latest version but then I found a Logitech Squeezebox internet radio on sale and I am very happy with that.

It just appeals to me more as a fun gadget!? Just like a cool toy. So it will connect wireless in my home just like our laptops do, through the Router? And EVERY thing such as clock radio, volume etc you adjust by tapping on the screen? How did your music sound? As long as the Clock alarm works, it is great! Prob would be fun just to see what it can do. Ok anything you "program" is by screen tap? No outer buttons at all? Thanks!

Hi, when the winner goes to sign in to create an account, is your's "deleted" so that it won't stop someone from signing up? That is if they ask for #'s off of this unit? Thanks

I will delete my account and reset the machine before shipping, per this page

There is a bottun on top to bring it to the control screen. You'll figure it out pretty quick, the music sounds fine to me, better than a clock radio. It can tune in to a lot of stuff, Pandora, and there are a bunch of sleep background noises like chirping birds and even snoring. It's kind of a fun gizmo, I'm sure you will like it.
