90 Year Old Antique Nun's Rosary Czechoslovakia Brass and Mother Of Pearl Cross

Antique Rosary 5 Decades Complete

55 Beads....Very Nice Condition.

Rosary Measures 16 inches from

the top of the Rosary to Bottom of Crucifix.

This is a nice Rosary who knows the story behind it but that is what I like about Antiques.

Questions & Comments

It is missing one bead. There should be a single bead (for an "Our Father") after the cross and before the three beads for "Hail Marys". Still very pretty, though.

Very interesting! May I ask how it was dated to be 90 years old? I don't know anything about rosaries, but this is a fascinating piece!

I when I bought it was about 75-80 years old I have had it 10 years. And Czechoslovakia was a sovereign state in Central Europe which existed from 1918–1992. Since the back of it is labeled Czechoslovakia, If leaves some years to be added to taken away. It has turned since I bought it down town Jonesborough at an antique shop. Due to the split it could be Czech Republic or Slovakia. I am a full time graphic designer who works from home. While in school I studied the arts that changed as society was oppressed and when I saw it I knew this was the piece for me. But it needs a home and in someones hands. Hope this helps.

Usually , I thought there was 5 beads. I am just curious, did you continue to pray with this? How do u know it belonged to a nun? Thanks, W/F.

From where I bought it, At the time Cloyd's Jeweler downtown Jonesborough always worked on our Antique Cuckoo Clocks or pocket watches and they had a wide selection of Rosary Mr. Cloyd collected them and monk prayer beads. He knew the woman who had them she moved here and ended up in a Condo across from his Jewelry shop. I think they might have been given to her when she was girl before becoming a nun. I knew I loved it had to have it. I do not use them. Hope this helps.

Is this the length of a regular rosary or is it much longer? I have a hard time telling from the picture. A decade is the length once around the rosary. A five decade should be able to go around your waist and reach down your thigh.

I think its 16 inches long, this was given to the Nun when she was little girl. She latter became a nun.

it probably is a one decade or standard style rosary. it is very, very pretty. thanks for answering my questions. I have been looking for a 5-decade rosary myself.
