Description

The listing, Old for New has ended.

80 +/- x 21 inch strip from antique quilt top. Strip is 4 blocks long, each "dish" is different. Was gifted to me. Machine stitched. Muslin background, 20's-30"s prints I think (mostly because of the "poison green"). Not reproduction. Some minor stains on muslin background. Do not know what they are. Have not tried to remove stains or wash this piece.

Now that I'm offering it up to a good home I finally have an idea of what to do with it.... Split it in half and make a wall hanging. Some antique quilt tops are worth leaving alone and saving. This one is fair to average workmanship and fair condition, just needs love and a good home. Might be a decorator piece if finished as a wall hanging.

Putting a minimum bid on it so it will have value to the buyer.

Before you ask, I can't afford free shipping. Small Flat rate can be traced and I haven't lost one yet. PalPal is only acceptable payment for postage. My offerings are Not relisted.

It is four approx. 16" blocks that make up an 80" strip with sashing and border.

Friend who is knowledgeable in fabrics was just in for a visit. She said she believed all fabric was "feed sacks." The weave on some of the prints is same as background plain and I recognized a couple as dress quality/flour sacking.

Since I have listed this piece, local quilter friends have dropped in and gone over it. Conversations with people who are knowledgeable about antique quilts, construction and fabric have brought up some ideas about what the original quilter planned and what might be done with this piece. I'll drop notes into the package for the winner...just in case you are interested or want to finish it for yourself.

I recognize some of the fabrics as flour sacks or feed sacks my mammo made alot of quilts and dresses of these materials would love the chance to maybe copy pattern and make a large quilt putting these in the middle. Hope I win I will keep watching. Good luck!

Sorry I missed comments....
The pattern is reasonably simple and something people used to highlight a center applique piece or embroider. Just bid and maybe you can find it in your mailbox.
