Because of the enthusiastic response to the mandrel stick ring gauge I'm putting this up for auction with the free drop shipping from Amazon place again. This is a Rathburn ring stretcher for stretching soft rings like silver and I suppose gold but note only size 8 rings or larger, please keep that in mind.

The ring goes over the part with the tongs then you place the "piston" in the mandrel part and tap on it with a rubber mallet. The piston slowly separates the the tongs, widening the ring.

I'm not a jeweler yet, so my word is not "golden" but I read that you should only stretch rings 1/2 to 1 size yourself. For stretching more than a half a size, it was recommended that you bring it to a jeweler. Jewelers have these stretchers and more expensive ones however they also cut and as seamlessly as possible resolder rings. Anybody who would like to add more knowledge here, please comment :-).

This is a fantastic item if you need to stretch rings about 1 size (and of course the ring must be a size 8 or larger).
Personally i prefer to bring a ring that needs 1 size up to a jeweler depending on the amt of gold or silver needed it is worth it.
My Friend Gwen who owns Faith Jewelers in Jacksonville, FL does all my sizing and they use the much more expensive stretchers and send it out if it needs more then one size. This is defniately a great item to have esp if you see a ring on here of a size 8 or larger and need it stretched no more then 1 size! Great Auction Socrtwo22 ! This should do very well! It already has done great but i can see this going a lot higher.
will be watching it for a friend of mine who wears a lot of 8 1/2 rings and wants to bid on some rings on here but they're only 8's. This would be just perfect! And I know how to use it so this will be terrific .
and besides what's better then FREE????????????? ;)

it says on the amazon site for wedding bands??just single bands...can you use this to stretch rings with stones in them too?

You might be right. I'm not sure, but there is a relatively inexpensive stretcher using a different technology that I saw associated with rings with stones. I'll try to find the link.

So here is a link for a shank ring expander: http://tinyurl.com/24z298b It stretches the shanks or sides of the ring rather the whole circumference so it can be used, so it can be used with ring with stones. The problem with this eBay listing is the maker provides no instructions. I'll list one here on Listia when I find instructions a limitations. If anybody know a location of these, let me know. Thanks

This is such a great auction! I've got a beautiful ring I won here on Listia that was said to be a about a half size bigger than it is, sadly I'm a few days late to list anything to get enough credits for this one...will you be listing any other mandrels?

Hi. Thanks for the compliment. That's too bad about not having the credits. I think I will list the ring sizer that works on the shanks for rings that have stones, see here:http://tinyurl.com/24z298b . The problem is the inexpensive ones don't come with instructions so I still have to find instructions on the Internet before listing. If anybody know where they are please let me know.
