Description

The listing, Signed 1st Edition of The Grandmother Principles by Suzette Haden Elgin has ended.

"The Grandmother Principals' is practical, witty & motivational, without ever beating you up for the amount of time you can give your littlest/youngest beloveds.

As a person who felt like they could have done a better job of intentional parenting, but for whom that time is pretty much past; the idea of being more conscious of how we relate toward grown children and grandchildren was very interesting. Ms. Elgin's ideas are always practical and realistic, and often very creative. I especially liked her suggested solution for a policy regarding loaning money to grown children and grandchildren.

She was clear and emphatic in expressing how a grandmother's contributions can create a core for a family that greatly aids stability and cohesiveness. She suggests things that can be very meaningful over an extended period, and then explains why those things are effective and meaningful. The why's of her book struck home for me, and the things I have shared with other people have been received with positive interest.

I highly recommend the book, and agree with her assertion that grandmothers can provide a badly needed haven for family members in a world that can be overwhelming, often confusing and sometimes actively cruel. I also appreciate that many of her ideas are about how to make life easier and more rewarding for yourself and those you spend time with. She even covers thoroughly how these things apply to long-distance grandmothers who have to do most of their grandmothering over the telephone or through the mail.

This is an autographed copy, bought at one of Elgin's speaking engagements. It is also a 1st edition, & is noted as such on the title page.

I bought this copy, so I cannot verify the autograph personally, so don't bid 'on the autograph' per se! I do know Suzette usually sold & often signed her books at her seminars, et.

Sure, I will try to get a decent shot of the "1st Edition" page section, also.
This will take a little while! Have to figure out my daughter's tablet, send photos to my email....on & on...quite a process. (For me, anyways!)..lol! <><

The autograph reads,
"To one Grandma from another Grandma! God love us! Happy Mother's Day 2006 Love Gin, Las Vegas, NV.
I have checked & this would certainly seem to be a legit 1st edition, with Elgin's inscription. If you can't find a way to authenticate the autograph, bid ONLY on the 1st edition book.
It is highly likely, I would say that I am 99.9% positive that this is the legit signature, since as late as 2007 she was allowing fans to buy her books, mail them to her with return postage included, & signing them with whatever inscription was desired.
The nice thing is having a signed 1st edition...but hey, the starting bid is aprx. $1.25, w/ free shipping...doesn't seem like much of a leap of faith! <><
