Description

The listing, Antique (circa 1890) Barrel-shaped Needle Case German-made NICE--Must See!! Free Shipping!! has ended.

Beautiful Victorian sewing collectible! This needle case was made in Germany and was most likely a merchant 'give-away' item to customers, making it a great cross-over collectible: sewing and advertising. The top turns to access the size needle desired....5,6,7,8 or 9. This diminutive piece measures 2.25" high and 1.25" wide. Will be very carefully packaged to arrive just as you see it, and shipping is free!!
Thank-you for your interest and Good Luck!!
Serious GIN offers will be considered, if made prior to bids!! :)

My mom used to have one of these. I remember it well from when I was a kid, and that w2as a LONG time ago. She brought it over from France. I don't know what happened to it, but I would love to own this. I think that 10,000 is kind of high for a starting bid. Why don't you put 10000 as a GIN on it and I might consider that. God Bless

Well, I don't consider 10,000 as too high for an opening bid, as 10,000 (roughly) equals $10...and I am paying for Priority shipping. If you find another in this condition, you will pay at least $20...so I think 10,000 is a very reasonable starting bid; you might bid the 10,000 and win, who knows? :) Thank-you for your interest!

HOW Does 10,000 = $10.??? I am not sure how that could b possible. Don't they sell 1200 credits for $20. here???

Well, Listia may sell credits at that price, but the marketplace determines the real value; for example, a gold 2 peso coin just sold for 75,000 credits...and that coin has a "melt" value of $80. I just won a listing today for some "Thank-You notes" at 1300 credits...do you think they're worth $20? Go buy $100 worth of credits (6000), and see what you can actually buy for those 6000. You *may* get lucky and get 2 silver dimes for it...which have an actual value of around $7.

I'm always amazed at what I see on here and this needle safe is no exception! You are real fair on your opening bid and frankly on your quoted value price as well-20 bucks isn't out of line- even though the lousy market is so down right now you'd probably be fortunate to be offered $15. My collection always has room for "just 1 more thing" so I'll be off amassing credits now!! I think this is made of Ash but it could be young walnut- either way it is beautiful!

If you go to the Listia rewards store, you will see that the exact credit to ratio equivalent IS $1 to each 1,000 credits... For example, this Nordstrom card, worth $100, goes for 100,000 credits... (http://www.listia.com/auction/7817653-100-gift-card-to-nordstrom)...etc... The ratio for unearned and/or purchased credits is much different than the standard earned credits.... This is the bid Listia controversy of all time... but these are the facts, Just as treasureqwest described. Some people just dont get it, and other wont get it so they can continue to gripe about the 'high prices' haha... but, this IS what it is. :) ... Awesome listing Sir, f&w :)

My apologies, I wasn't trying to sound mean or anything, I do agree if that is the way you are putting it. I don't know how to put a value on the credits anymore. It just never seems to be the same. I suppose $10.00 IS a fair price when you put it that way. I DO like the piece. I believe I DID say that and that I am watching it. I am fairly certain I will be bidding on it too because I would love to have this since it brings back fond memories of my own mom. Anyway, I have fanned you, please fan back and God Bless,

No apology needed--no offense taken! :) And you are right--it's hard to determine credit value; since I buy and sell silver & gold coins, I tend to use that as a barometer, since gold and silver do have intrinsic value. Maybe I'm wrong to use that as a guide, but until a better one comes along....have fanned you as well. Good luck and thanks for your interest! :)
