Description

The listing, Cinnamomum camphora (commonly known as Camphor tree, Camphorwood or camphor laurel) has ended.

You will receive 5 seeds and planting instructions.
Cinnamomum camphora (commonly known as Camphor tree, Camphorwood or camphor laurel) is a large evergreen tree that grows up to 20–30 metres tall. The leaves have a glossy, waxy appearance and smell of camphor when crushed. In spring it produces bright green foliage with masses of small white flowers. It produces clusters of black berry-like fruit (which I have found Robin's love!)around one centimeter in diameter. It has a pale bark that is very rough and fissured vertically.

The camphor tree is grown for medicinal properties as well as for its ornamental values. Plant camphor trees where they will receive full sun to partial shade and make sure they're provided fertile, sandy soil.

if following the directions for gestation: Instructions

1

Find out whether there are any restrictions on planting the camphor tree in your area. If not, you should still consider whether you really want to plant a camphor tree considering that weed control measures will likely be required in about 30 years, when seed production increases dramatically.
2

Collect fresh camphor fruit when it ripens--between September and November. Camphor fruit turns black when ripe. The fresh fruit have the highest germination rate, which typically averages about 50 percent.

3

Remove the pulp around the seed. Soak the seeds in lukewarm water for 24 hours to speed up the germination process.
4

Plant the seeds in small beds or trays. Water regularly and wait patiently. Germination may take one to six months.
5

When seedlings are big enough and old enough to handle, transplant into small growing pots. Grow in a greenhouse through the first winter.
6

Transplant your camphor outdoors after the danger of frost has passed. Plant them in full sun, in a fertile, moisture-retaining, well-drained soil.
7

Cover the camphor to protect them from cold winter temperatures during the first two winters outdoors.
