Description

The listing, Painted Hill Heirloom Sweet Corn: Organically Grown & Open Pollinated~25 Seeds Non-GMO has ended.

This colorful, open-pollinated sweet corn was developed from a cross of Painted mountain flour (Indian) corn with the heirloom sweet corn, Luther Hill. The 7" multi-colored ears make a beautiful display, and every kernel is filled with robust, old-time corn flavor. A unique variety that can be grown anywhere, Painted Hill is well adapted to short-season and northern gardens. Seed germinates even in cold soils, and plants will tolerate light frost so it can be sown several weeks earlier than other corn varieties.

When to sow outside: RECOMMENDED. 1 to 2 weeks after average last frost and when soil temperatures are warm (60 - 65º F).

When to start inside: Not recommended; corn seed does not transplant well.

Special sowing instructions: easy to grow from seed. Since pollination occurs from wind, corn seed should be sown in short, parallel rows or blocks.

It is not as far as I know, there is another kind of corn, called Glass Gem, and that is sometimes referred to as Jewel corn. I am trying to obtain as much of that as I can, but it is super hard to find. If you want to see it, just Google glass gem corn. Its amazing. You can order it from Native Seeds, but it has waiting list!
