The listing, 1973 Topps RON SANTO - Cubs Hall of Famer! RIP has ended.
This is a 1973 Topps RON SANTO baseball card.
Santo was elected to the Hall of Fame in 2011, and is a Chicago sports institution. A 9 time All-Star and a 5 time Gold glove winner, Santo was also a premier power hitter, bashing 342 home runs and 1331 RBI in his 15 year career. He led the league in walks 4 times and, consequentially, on-base percentage twice, An unlikely baseball hero due to a lifelong battle with diabetes, Santo played his entire career in the city of Chicago and went on to work in broadcasting for his beloved Cubs from 1990 and continued to work with the team until his death in December 2010. The Cubs had retired his jersey number 10 during the 2003 season.
Card is not mint but not bad. Has some mild durface wear and mildly dinged corners that one would generally expect from a 40 year old baseball card, but still a decent card of a Hall of Fame player.
