1944 90% Silver quarter with odd rim
This quarter is definitely a little different...
I've been told two different theories on this one so I'll let you guys judge for yourselves.
One theory is that the coin was "spooned" or molded into this shape by carefully tapping it into form while turning it slightly.Apparently this was a common way to pass down time for soldiers during WW2. The date of the coin would certainly support that theory.
Second theory is that the coin was struck on a war nickel dye(obviously smaller) and this is what created the oddity in the rim.
I'm not sure what I believe caused it but one thing is for sure,It's different.
The rings in the rim are still visible and the rim is VERY smooth.Makes it hard for me to believe it was hammered into this form but who knows?
The fact that it's a WW2 era coin and 90% Silver is appealing enough but this is definitely a conversation piece.Regardless of what caused the odd shape,it would certainly make a "stand alone" piece in any collection...

Not sure what the true value of this coin is so I'm shooting from the hip with the GIN amount.I'm certainly open to any offers on the GIN before the first bid is placed.
