love this my husband and i rescued our pitbull from people that did not take care of him he was left outside all the time and not feed when we got him he was so skinny you could see his ribs now he is healty and he is my kids best friend sleeps with them every night and goes crazy if they are not home for the night just have to say he is the best dog we have ever had F&W
We rescued Van Gogh (yes, just like the famous artist)from a shelter. His ears are butchered because some one thought they knew how to crop and butchered them instead. Hence the name. Anyhow, we had been going to the shelter for months looking for the "right" dog. One that looked fierce, but was really very loving and good with kids. Well finally a volunteer asked what exactly are we looking for month after month. We explained and she said "we have the perfect one!" Well she took us to the run that Van Gogh was in. Now mind you we had seen this dog on every trip out there and he scared the pants off me every time with his amazing jumping ability, growling and fierce bark. So when I saw which one it was I said oh no...not that one. To make a long story short she asked us to trust her. They had worked with him and used him on Saturday's in the office to babysit a 3 yr old little girl. With that last statement my husband and I decided to take a closer look at him. We took him for a walk and got to know him. He truly was a lover full of kisses. All he wanted all those times was attention and to be out. So we took him. That was 5 yrs ago. If we could afford to clone him we would. He has been nothing but loving and protective. A big pushover that thinks he's a lap dog. We started taking him to car shows with us when we compete so that people can have the opportunity to better understand this misunderstood breed and destroy the myths. He loves it!!! He loves the attention too. And now we just got a Chihuahua, they get along great and Van Gogh even has play dates with a Jack Russel...sadly his friend Roxy (a Dachshund) passed away. But when we go over to where she lived he still looks for her then becomes kinda sad. They used to have so much fun. Since Van Gogh has come into our lives I have become a HUGE Pitty breed advocate.
