Attention, Scrapbook makers and stamp / postcard collectors! This postcard was mailed from Wimbleton in 1967.

The Imperial State Crown is one of the Crown Jewels of the United Kingdom and symbolizes the sovereignty of the monarch. The crown has existed in several versions since the 15th century. The crown includes several famous jewels: the cross at the top is set with a stone known as St. Edward's Sapphire, a sapphire taken from the ring (or possibly coronet) of Edward the Confessor; the Black Prince's Ruby is set on the front cross; the famous Cullinan II, or Lesser Star of Africa, is set on the front; and the back band contains the 104-carat Stuart Sapphire. The crown also contains Queen Elizabeth’s Pearls.

The Crown is 12.4 inches tall and weighs 2 pounds. When not in use, it is kept with the other Crown Jewels on display at the Jewel House in the Tower of London.

SG551 9d bronze-green used stamp on the back of this postcard is a Queen Elizabeth II. The portrait chosen for the stamp is by the artist Dorothy Wilding and this series of stamp designs is now known as "Wildings"
