TY marleneray3! these are very nutritious plants and are used in salads(like Spinach and is high in minerals)--a good edible "weed" that grows fairly tall--very pretty purple flowers on this plant---they look good against a barn wall too---sort'of like the "Outhouse" Hollyhocks but they are bushier--(it's also known as the Fench Hollyhock or High Mallow) and it will self-seed too---yes! it's also an Herb and it is used as a tea for sore throats and dry coughs---(boil 2-4 teaspoons of the dried leaves in water for 10 or 15 min. and drink a cup 3 times a day) or make up a cough syrup---you can also make a dye from this plant (yellow) and btw-- Christopher Nyerges of a "Guide To Wild And Useful Plants" says that no mallow species is poison--so there you have it!
