Does the usb chord go in the computer for the recording or do you need a separate chord for it to record?

no need for any other cable. It just plugs in and is ready. You just change the recording device in your recording software and plug in. I have used this with Protools, Logic, and Garage Band.

No software disc but I do you know you can download the driver from M-Audio Website for the operating system you are using.
