If the pads stick when you press the levers to playa note, then yes, the pads need to be replaced and if all the pads are like that, it can cost hundreds of dollars to repair. Iplayed for 6 years through grade school, middle school, high school........

Definitely vintage, at least 30 years old would be my guess. I had one very similar when I was in high school. Great item! I had mine re-corked but never new pads. Good luck & great auction!
