U.S. MINT SPECIFICATIONS
Denomination: $1.00
Obverse Image: Sacagawea and her infant son Jean-Baptiste; she was a Shoshone Indian who assisted the historic Lewis and Clark expedition.
Reverse Image: Soaring eagle encircled by 17 stars. The 17 stars represent each state in the Union at the time of the 1804 Lewis and Clark expedition.
Metal Composition: 88.5% copper, 6% zinc, 3.5% manganese, 2% nickel
Total Weight: 8.1 grams
Comments: The manganese brass in the coin is part of the outer layer. Like any brass, its color will eventually become darker, giving these coins an antique finish. As the coins are handled frequently, the darker "patina" may wear off the high points of the coin, leaving golden-colored highlights that accent the darker background around the border, lettering and other less exposed areas. The brighter, brass highlights, in contrast with the darker background, accentuate the profile and add a dimension of depth to the depiction of Sacagawea and her child

I don't understand why they call it a "Golden dollar" if there's not a lick of gold in the darn thing..
