The listing, Brown Paper Bag Charity Auction has ended.

Although there would seem to be something inside of the bag, I will probably eat it before the auction is over. No refills.
I can't say this bag has absolutely no value, but I do imagine said value is probably a fraction of a cent.
This is a charity auction, all proceeds go to charity.
If you bid, it is either because you
A) Have a sense of humor.
B) Want to contribute to charity.
C) Love an honest auction.

Now, I probably wont ever get around to shipping this bag even if you win. If I do, however, the following are lists of potential uses for Brown Paper Bags

How does the charity auction work?? Does Listia facilitate the donation? and how do they do it considering we are bidding with pts? not actual money.. though some are actually buying pts.. let me know I am curious..

I can not say for certain, but I think roughly 10 cents is donated for every credit bid. Listia removes those credits from their system, and sends actual money to the specified charity. Basically, it is like a currency conversion. You are donating one currency, credits, and it is converted to USD and donated.

I wonder if the promotional credits are all that are taken out of the total? And which credits are promotional? I've spent well over 500 credits and currently have quite a few credits from sales. Are they still considered promotional credits, as this is probably where they originated?

Hi Listia:
I had a quick question about charity auctions... the Listia FAQ states:

When a seller lists a charity auction we donate a specified percentage of the profits to charity. This percentage is taken from the number of paid credits the winner uses to complete the auction. Promotional credits are exempt from this percentage since they are free.

I was wondering what that percentage was and if that percentage varies if the winner does not use "paid credits" to win the auction but instead uses non-promotional earned credits from selling items.

The description might be funny, but the cause is real. All proceeds go to support cancer research. I thought this fitting, as this auction was inspired by a tumor.

Maybe we can sort of start a Listia tradition? I'll send the bag to the winner, and they copy and paste the description and which number they are. That way we can keep a charity auction going and my little bag can go around the world! If the winner agrees to do this, I'll put a letter with a personal cancer story in it. We can keep adding and adding.

If the winner agrees to relist the bag, I was thinking we could keep passing it on - kind of a chain auction. I'm going to write a letter and put it in the bag. Maybe even make a sheet each winner/hoster could fill out and pass on. Number of bids, etc. I'd love to see how many auctions this could go through. I wonder what the bag would look like if everyone wrote something on it? How many letters could be put inside and passed on?
