This is a WiFi extension. So you need to have some internet service already

Does this include the password for the machine? I have acquired 2 wireless machines so far and they both required a password..one I was never able to use because of the missing password.

I am not sure if it has one, or needs one. You should always try "admin" (or "administrator") and "password". Those are defaults for most devices. If that doesn't work, google the make/model and find out how to reset the device, thus resetting the password.
