The listing, HUGE Gourd Seed has ended.

I ran into an old man, lol, well, older than me and Im pretty dang old, anyway, he had some of the largest gourds growing I've ever seen. I managed to pilfer two of his gourds for a craft project and decided maybe some out here in Listia Land would maybe be interested in some of the seed. Some of his gourds were even larger than these. Talk about a bird house, lol, the whole flock could party in one of these. I had to do some might high sweet talkin to get these as he refuses to sell or let his stock go. I could not even lift these by myself they were so huge. This auction is for five seed, not sure how many I will let go as this is the one thing I do plan on trying to grow this next year. I might add that these are great gourds for crafting and bowls. All that he had growing were so nice and well shaped.

I got to thinking about what you said in the auction details and I laughed so hard I almost lost it. "I ran into an old man..." Ok, so you ran into an old man. Bet you hit him pretty hard. hahahahahahaha I'd like to run into an old man sometimes myself. There's slim pickings around my neck of the woods. So, where can and old snaggeled tooth, fat granny go find an old man to run into? Yeah, now that'd be way cool....

Your model is adorable! As is your userpic. I had a baby raccoon that I was fostering after his mom got hit by a car...and I had to leave town to go back to DC to finish up some business after we moved to NJ. I figured my husband could take care of the baby for the 2 days I was gone. Silly me. He called me in a panic...the tiny baby raccoon had chased him into the bathroom & he was standing on the toilet fussing at me to come home & save him. Mind you the baby was about 5 weeks old, and my husband is 6'5" tall and nearly 300 lbs. The baby only wanted to play....thankfully the lady from the spca came over & gave him a hand until I could get there. He still gets a big sourpuss when I bring this up and laugh about it. Lol! He did however just build our squirrels a nice nest box. They're all hand tamed and take peanuts from our hands. Its sooo cold here...they started coming into our sunporch and making a horrible mess so that's what caused the box to be built. I wonder if they could fit into one of these gourds?

she's a rescue dog, she rescued me....see the rocky in the pic? chopper had never had pups but adopted rocky as a baby, eyes werent even opened, and she gave milk and nursed her till grown, and then some. she thinks rocky is her baby. She later raised a litter of coons, then two litters of kittens, giving milk each time. Made it easy on me for my rescue efforts, but alas, she took to stealing all the neighbors kittens and i had to get her fixed. She's also a danged good hunting dog, has helped me take down three huge mean russian boars, and we ate em all. Nope, she kayaks with me, white water, and rides on the tank of my motorcycle, has all her leather gear, helmet is even painted to match our chopper bike. we take trophys in every contest we enter, usually first place. I swear if her little paws could reach the handles, she'd take over the bike. I'd kill over my dog.

hey tchrkare glad you stopped in...I so fell in love with the gourds that I'm trying my hand at crafting them, has been on my bucket list....they probebly weighted forty or fifty pounds each, unreal. I don't garden but this year I plan on trying my hand at growing these as they are so danged awesome..

I hope I have luck with growing them so if it works, I will be listing more next year. I might list a few more here, just depends on how many seed I get. I have several friends pilfering them from me now....ha

Shoot those gourds are big enough to make a comfortable dog house for Chopper and Jeremiah, my babies. He always lets you know he wants something especially squeaky toys. He's my little man! Spoiled rotten.

I was reading about growing these today, and it said if you pinch off all but the biggest and fastest-growing one or two, you will get REALLY huge ones. Has anyone tried this? Sounds logical...

I have never had luck growing gourd either but am gonna really try hard this year with these seed. It will probebly be the only thing I bother growing except Im trying to do a cutting with the white blackberry vine too. The gourds are gonna make some awesome bowls, am working on one now.
