The listing, 8Kt. Solid Gold Antique Ring has ended.

This is an 8kt. solid gold antique ring, size 7. It is stamped 333 inside the ring which means 8kt. Here is what it says online about the 333 stamp inside :
33% Solid Gold, or "8 karat"
The stamps for percentage and karat symbol for gold expressed as follows:
333 - 8K gold (made in Germany or Spain, rare)
375 - 9k gold (vey popular in the old world, especially pre WWII UK)
417 - 10K gold
500 - 12K gold
585 - 14K gold
666 - 16K gold (gold teeth and fillings)
750 - 18K gold
792 - 19K gold (used in portugal)
833 - 20K
916 - 22k gold
999 - 24K gold

It has a beautiful greenish/blue stone which is approximately 6kt Not sure what the stone actually is. This is very old. You can see on the inside of the band where it looks like someone got it sized at one time. This does not tarnish or turn your finger green, it is solid 8kt. gold. So pretty! And your research is correct on the 8 K Gold, I am glad to see you took that time to help educate those who won't do it themselves!
I was a licensed antique appraiser for aprx 25 years, & specialized in estate jewelry & period clothing.
There are things such as rose gold that much of the general public is not aware of, and doubts its value.
It is a shame to even mention what the gold is worth! It is the esthetic & intrinsic value of this lovely, perhaps not quite antique, but clearly gorgeous & well crafted vintage ring that makes it so desirable.
It is extremely well-made, leading me to believe, w/ the fine-cut faceting of the certainly high-end gem stone, that this gem is a good one. I wouldn't venture a guess with those pics, but I can assure you, that high quality setting would not have been designed to hold a less valuable stone.
The setting has late Victorian flair, definitely earlier than 1920, so ALMOST, and perhaps, just perhaps, a true antique, which you know, I am sure, has to be 100 years old to be defined as such. It could be! But from here I can only say it is well before 1930, there are no Art Deco distinctions here at all.
The current bid of only aprx $90.00 in cash=credit value is so sad, but don't worry...this will zoom! I am hoping this at least brings your GIN of a very low 167,00 credits, which is still barely $500.00! This ring, in my vintage clothing store 20 years ago, would have been at least $750.00! And I doubt if it would have even made it into my high-end estate jewelry display case, since I had a list of people waiting for beautiful pieces such as this one!

Your GIN works out to aprx $5,000.00, which seems a bit high to me, but if the ring is as rare as it may be...and I could inspect the gem under a loop, you never know!

you can't go by what Listia sells credits for....look at what they sell a $20 gift card for=20,000.........so about $1 per 1,000 credits

The person behind the counter at the jewelry store couldn't tell me anything about it, she said the owner would have to see it, and he isn't in this week. I am so sorry, she did tell me that I should get hold of an antique jeweler as this is quite old. Wish I could give you more information, I am just as curious as everyone else...lol

Actually, that is what the jewelry store told me, that I needed to get hold of an estate jeweler, as she didn't know much about it. Just that it was definately 8kt gold. Her boss was the one I really needed to see about the gem, but he wasn't there today. Sorry I couldn't find out more about it.

someone studying for the GIA cert now would probably not learn about 8 kt gold unless you got into antiques later, as it is really rare and never made/used anymore. Sweeeeet piece!!! f&w :)
