Huge 300 carats of natural smoky topaz on Sterling sliver setting. It is stamp 925. It is big and beautiful for people who love to wear,show off big gemstone, and great for people who collect gemstones. This is a big piece. I have never seen one like it. It is a good heavy piece. Smokey quartz is the dark brown variety of quartz. In the past, these were often sold as "smoky topaz". There is no such gemstone known as smoky topaz and it's illegal to refer to quartz as "topaz". Watch out for some unscrupulous dealers who sell "smoky topaz", it is probably quartz. Citrine was often passed off as topaz as well. Smoky quartz crystals can form together with citrine crystals to form bi-colored quartz. Smoky quartz is sometimes found rutilated, which would be called Smoky Sagenite (Rutilated Quartz).

That is an old term. What you have is smokey quartz. It is actually illegal to sell smokey quartz as topaz - since its not topaz, its kind of like fraud. Like selling Herkimer "diamonds" as real diamonds (herkimer "diamonds" are also quartz crystals).

The value is small, perhaps a buck or two per carat.

Just rename it and your good mate. But look what it said a buck or two a carat. (do the math) thats a very nice chuck of quarts you have there, and very spendy! niiiice

Tag on the gemstone is from original tag from real auction I won from several years back I spend over two hundred dollars for it I've never wear it cause it was just too big for me I like small jewelry. I bought it cause I was rare I never seen This size of gemstones before.

Another reason I put on listia because my son broke his laptop. He need it for school . I'm hoping I would get enough credits to get used laptop on listia for him. he have alot of reports and projects from school every week. I'm still put same more stuff around the house on listia so I can get enough credit for laptop.
