The listing, Yeller Jacket Soup old Cherokee Recipe has ended.

Well now, here's how to enjoy a taste of the wild.....I see so many sharing recipes on here, thought I'd share one of mine with you. Yep, you're reading it right, its soup made with YELLOW JACKETS, you know, that critter that invades your picnics and such? What? You didn't know they were edible? LOL. Well, let me tell you, they are. I will share my campfire recipe for making this soup. My friend Marie and I are wildcrafters and spend many months hiking the mountains of the Appalachians. We have eaten all kind of delicacies and this is one of them. If you enjoy the unique, if you are brave, if you have a lust for adventure, this is for you. I will email my recipe at the end of the auction. Happy bidding folks and glad to have met ya. Ya'll come back now........

This recipe is dedicated to my dear ole part Cherokee grandma Reecie who was the best possum cooker in the valley. We'll see ya in the Happy Huntin Grounds Grandma

Back in early '70's or there abouts, Grandma Reecie sent me out to the barn to milk her cow. So, greenhorn me gets the milk stool and the bucket and goes out to the barn to milk Bessie, I believe her name was. I sat down and started milking and that cow took her foot and tried to knock the dog doodle outta me on the spot. Grandma was probably watching and laughing. You had to watch out for the cow, the mean roosters, and Pero. Pero was a good dog sometimes if he liked you well enough.....those were the good old days folks. They are almost gone forever, but there's two old ladies who still roam the mountains up here and if it moves, we got it and it's most likely supper.

This fat lady can actually out run the little bugs. Well, those I can but not hornets. That's another story. Cantankerous almost drowned me one time when we were going down the Conasauga Creek. Came to a log jam and when I went to climb over I ran into a Japanese hornet nest. I was standing there getting stung everywhere daylight was showing and she tackled me like a dang linebacker and drug me under the water to get away from the stingers. Well, that's good but I didn't have time to take a breath cause she'd knocked mine out and by the time I came up for air the hornets had gone back to their nest, figuring that crazy human had done gone and drowned in the creek. Whew, we've had some good ones and there's an adventure to be had every time we set foot in the woods somewhere on the mountain.

yeah, well, I can remember draggin youre hind end out of many a waterin hole Marie,,,,,but you're still here, LOLOL. My favorite was the night it was a snowin and we'd been swappin the bottle of jack and you went overboard at midnite in the middle of the Hiawassee River, HAHA. I guess you could say you skinny dipped the hiawassee in january after I got through pullin you out. What a fun nite that was. We need to go again. Hey, it's snowin tomarrow, wanna go rafting?

Yup, you pulled my frozen rear end out of the river, but it was day light every boat that passed got a peep show. I've never had my clothes skinned off so fast and a fire built so fast. Thank goodness we had dry clothes somewhere. Was that the time I still had the cast on my arm and was trying to row the raft with a broken hand? Didn't feel a thang at all.

It wasn't the first time you,ve "showed it" and won't be the last haha. Anyway, I was right proud of how quick I built that fire considering all the snow that night. the hornet nest and your broken arm was on the Tellico River and it was summer at that time, and your lucky I let you back up to breath with all the bellyaching you were doing. that's TWICE I,ve saved ya, I OWN you hahahahathat,s our tradition......

yes--that's me in the pix!--I lost some weight--LOL--well here is MY story anyways---the other night I was getting some help with posting my pix on listia---a young woman who is one of my neighbors and was helping me was reading my posting aloud---well she starts reading---"50 organic outhouse seeds" --well we busted up laughing on that one!(I must've been really tired posting!) O.K. I thought---now I think I can grow an Outhouse?! LOL (was for my Hollyhock seeds) I was pretty amused at that one--just thought I'd share MY story! LOL

one nite Marie and I were on a back creek, middle of the winter, midnite, freezing, miles from nowhere, drunk as skunks, canoe tipped over and we were too cold to empty all the water and Marie had to GO......we were trying to hurry so didn't want to pull over and she decided to just let ER rip right there in the boat, thought it would help thaw her feet out......I could have killed her. we finally saw a cabin with smoke coming out and ran up to the door banging on it. the man opened the door, we were so frozen we couldn't talk but I saw that hot fireplace and just walked straight to it and sat down with Marie following. the old timer was so shocked and said no one had traversed the creek in over a hundred years. He saved our lives that nite and became a very good friend who we visited when we could.

Good Lord! I'd forgotten that! Hey hot p@## is good for a lot of ailments. Next time you get mad at some inanimate object just p#%^ on it and you'll feel lots better. I do it all the time and now I need a new cell phone. Got mad at one once and threw it in the toilet and guess what I did next? Yeah. Then I got to wondering what to do after that cause I couldn't flush the toilet or it'd get stopped up. So guess who had to go fishing for the stupid cell phone? True story. EC was mad cause he had to buy me another one.

Up and down and up and down. Worried about that dang ear quack I have to go see in the morning. Got to get up at 5:30 a.m. just in time to hear the roosters in the barn complaining about being shut up in the barn. Son and his dog on couch watching tv. Me, I'm too tired and probably go back to bed. I should be home in time for us to go do something crazy by tomorrow afternoon. Next day for danged certain even if I have to shovel the snow outta the driveway. Hey they salted my road last ice event. It was the first time since they paved the road that we got salt.
