If you get a Redbook or go to cointracker.com and research it. They made no silver quarters in '79 It has to have copper in it. You can see it in the reeded edge.?>
I bid (1111)...Please someone outbid me. GOOGLE {1979 Silver Quarter} and the first article that came up was cointracker.com This was in another article! If what you have is not a U S COIN I don't want it if I happen to win. If it was made for jewelry purposes I don't want it keep it How much is a 1979 all silver quarter worth?
Answer: It's all copper-nickel. The last silver quarters were dated 1965.
If it doesn't have the standard copper edge seen on all clad coins, you may have something that was plated for use in jewelry or similar.
Not saying it doesnt have a copper edge i just cant see it! this is something i got from a dealer so ur wrong on that! this is not a fake quarter! its a real washington 1979 proof cameo quarter as seen in my pictures! if you dont like dont bid! thanks
Is the "s" mint mark clearly defined or does it appear to be filled? These quarters came both ways. Very beautiful either way!!!!!!!!!!Thanks for listing.
the "s" mint mark is so small i cant really tell! its really really tiny and because its so small it kinda looks like it mite be fiiled. so i dont know what that means, does it make it an error?
Looking in my "Coin Bible".... actually 2012 Redbook coin guide. I thought they made 2 different proofs that year and they did. One was a clear strong "s" mint mark worth $3 pf-65 and the other one was a sort of filled in "s" mint mark and valued at $6 in pf-65 Proof. Neither was considered a error coin. Evidently they ran some through on a slightly modified die to give the mint mark a lower relief.Still love learning about coins.
thanks for the info i appreciate it! with that info then this would be the small "s" that looks filled in! i have another thats an 1986 and the "s" is bigger and very clear and defined. thanks a lot for helping me on that i need one of those books!
a clad cion has copper pressed in the middle of it a pure silver coin does not to tell is very easylook at the rim around the coin you will be able to see if there is copper pressed in the middle.
i have 8 others that r not in a coin flip and i cant see any lines or copper from where they were compressed!(i used gloves) i can see it on the quarters out of my pocket but not on these. im not for sure if this one or my others r silver or not! i got them a while ago. thot you could get silver quarters from special mint sets!
